Balbriggan is classed in the Fingal Development plan 2005-2011 as a Major Growth Centre

Development in Balbriggan & District is continuing at an ever-increasing rate. This is mainly residential but there is also new Industrial, Commercial & Retail areas at various stages of the planning process and should be commencing construction in the not too distant future.

Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce is anxious to ensure that all this development is not going to be hap-hazard, unplanned & impact negatively on residents and business people alike .

We are liasing with Fingal County Council with a view to getting an accurate assessment of what future development is planned for the town and will it be sustainable. The following are examples of what we are assessing :

  • Residential Units – Number of Units / Unit type (no. of bedrooms)
  • Density / Location of same.
  • Office & Commercial units – No. of / Floor Areas / Location .
  • Infrastructure – Current capacity / Proprosed improvements / Amendments.
  • Essential Services – Water / ESB / Telecom / Broadband.
  • Current capacity / Proprosed improvements / Amendments.
  • There is a need to look at all of these areas closely to ensure Babriggan & District can cope effectively with the Future Demand that the on-going development and population increase brings & that the ‘major growth’ is managed effectively.

We intend keeping our members informed & updated regularly on these issues.
